Ahhh I feel the exact same way! I've become OBSESSED with that car. I actually found a red '67 Chevy Impala being sold on Ebay for $14,900 (US) and was all set to click "Buy Now" before I remembered that I'm a 17 yr old girl and about to go to college; I have no money that isn't going into tuition! But I'm setting aside a piggy bank to get this car of my dreams. Long live late sixties muscle cars!

This car gives me girl-boners. Season three (I think?) has nifty little extras on the DVD about Baby. I will own this car.

Oh I know what you mean, when I saw the car being totaled by the semi I about cried and moaned, "NNnooooo" not the Impala. That car is sweet and I love what they did to the engine to give it the sound it has. I am a bit of a car buff, especially older muscle cars, and yes i'm a girl.
I was talking to a friend, who btw got me hooked on Supernatural, and told her that too bad they had to change the body. She told me, "Leave it to you to notice that.: lol

My Grandfather had a 68 impala that was his work Car. 4 door, gold, and not one option or power anything on it except an am (only) radio. And I can't help but hink of it everytime I see a car like it on tv. I have no doubt that the sight of an Impala enhances my enjoyment of the show.

I feel just like you!
I'm actually looking on the Internet if someone is selling that car in the U.S and I live in SWEDEN! I'm also 16 years old, won't get a drivers lincense before I'm 18 and I can never afford it. But I want it, so bad.

Chris... Fantastic suggestion! We're all over it and made "Lane Change" our subject of discussion for this week's episode ( I think it's #009). Please let us know if you think we covered the topic fairly or if you 've got something to add... then post it here or leave us a voicemail. Keep the episode topics coming!
With gratitude,
Jeffrey

TOOK THE WORDS OUT OF MY MOUTH!! I totally love this car. And yes i think we really bond with the car because WE as the fans treat this car as a main character. I like the car related jokes or puns they make because its just so badass! Like when Sam was driving and Dean is about to go to sleep and he is like "After the first 100 miles......I AM DRIVING" Like a drug to him or something

Oh my gosh, I can't believe there is another girl out there how loves the Impala as much as me! You know Jensen Ackles (guy who plays Dean) said in an interview "The Impala is like a third star, and the show wouldn't be the same without her." Now of course it's the other way around Sam and Dean nicely complement the her, but to each his own, right? lol

I did...
The engine was an experiment. I used a 350 block with a 307 crank, 327 pistons and .001 shortened rods, which gave it a total CID of 336. 7.5 to 1 compression and that big blower gave it one hell of a punch. Overall, it made around 800 HP.
It was a wild ride. The only car I ever owned that could break the wheels loose at 45 MPH and slide the car sideways. (These days, we call that Driftin')

God I miss that car. But... I had to give it up for other important things. Someday, maybe.........

As a tidbit for those who are looking to add this show to Itunes. The button on the front page doesn't work. This worked for me.

Pull up Itunes click on podcasts, go to advanced, subscribe to podcast, and put this http://www.carology.tv/?feed=podcast.

This came via email from Jim Carr:

>I'm not sure I qualify as a carologist since I don't remember a
>fraction as much about cars I have owned as the caller you recorded on
>Wednesday.
>
>However, I am facing an upcoming decision. I'm driving a 2003 Lincoln
>LS that is now past extended warranty and I'm thinking about replacing
>it. What's out there? Maybe this would be a topic although its may not
>be a glamor niche.
>
>Want to get better mileage if possible but still with zip and handling.
>Plus enough metal between me and anything that might hit car.
>
>All of the cars I have had had, don't remember exact years, have been
>American-made, medium size, V-8, automatic transmission, rear wheel
>drive, hard tops, most with power everything. I don't want to drive
>something that feels like a barge or is too big to park but I don't
>want to feel every bump in the road because pavement around the area is
>suffering from delayed repairs.
>
>Nobody besides Cadillac seems to be in that market and I'm not sure I
>want to go there.
>
>In order,
>
> late 60s Ford Torino--don't recall the package but it was probably
>the fastest without a hood scoop. Was told it had some special
>equipment, mag wheels. Hand me down from my dad. Got totaled with
>another family car parked on street in front of house in middle of
>night and nobody heard a thing.
>
>Mid 70s Torino--not as fast or good looking. Hottest if you count
>engine fires.
>
>Couple of Chevy Monte Carlos, one used, one new.
>
>Two Ford Thunderbirds in 90s, both new.
>
>Two Lincoln LS looking for more luxury features than Tbird, both new.

Mike, what a machine! I'll bet you can imagine every nut, bold and gasket on this thing clearly in your mind still today! Very nice. Nothin' says "balls" like a blown Camaro!

I have named every car I have ever owned. Honestly, I don't think many people know I do. For some reason, I use it as a secret magical name, in almost incantation like form to implore it to not breakdown, make it to the gas station after being on "E" for hours, after it's washed and clean, or performed some impressive task.

My current vehicle, a green Tahoe, is named Lantern.
Yea, my comic geek flag is flying.

AAA cards are nice, honestly they work better as a hotel discount card for me.

Jumper cables, a collapsable liquid container - (works for water or gas in a pinch, and takes up little space),
Roll of duct tape
Screw driver (one that flips to be flat or phillips),
Pliers
12 piece socket set.
Flashlight ( get a good one that will work at 1 am in a rainstorm, and change the batteries once a year.)
Four way tire tool.(Often the factory supplied tools will provide enough torque to break lug nuts that haven't been removed in years)
Checking the spare is something that is a pain, but only takes a few minutes, and gives you a pleasant sense of comfort should you actually have a flat.

If you do rely on AAA, I would still suggest a magazine, or book while you are waiting, and waiting.....

Carology can and does mean several things to me. It's about cars, how they fit into our lives, economy, and culture.

Sometimes I can only snicker at mass transportation. Now don't get me wrong trains, subways, even ferries.. do have their place, but I can't imagine preferring a subway car over driving through winding roads with the top down.

The auto business is my livelihood, and it is for many americans, probably more people, and ways than you realize. Look at the repair shops, gas stations, car washes., even most supermarkets have a small auto section.

Cars are imprinted into american culture, '57 Chevy, Mustang fastbacks, even the DeLorean, are examples of how a vehicle can work it's way into universally recognizable symbols.

Carology, I hope over time will explore all of these issues and more.
